The suit you’re going to wear may not be the first thing you think about when you get invited to a wedding. Instead, you’ve probably got to think about air travel, hotels, your date for the night, the gift you’ll buy and a whole host of other things.

Still, what you wear to a wedding is important. On a couple’s big day, arguably the biggest day of their personal lives, you want to look your best. Having the right suit will also make you feel a whole lot better during the event.

While you might be able to wear navy blue to almost any wedding, there are some seasonal colors and style ideas that will serve you well. Keep reading to learn more about wedding attire for men for every single season.

Most men think of weddings as spring affairs, but a lot of couples are opting for fall weddings these days. Most of the time, fall weddings are a bit more rustic than their spring counterparts.

To pull off the right look, go for something a little more unique.

Wool Check

When it comes to wedding attire for men, your first thought probably isn’t a suit with a bold, heavy pattern. For a fall wedding though, choosing a suit in heavy, high-quality wool with a check pattern can really fit the bill.

You can go for rustic colors like black and brown, or for more classic options like green and blue. Plaids can work as well, but most men will get a little more use out of a wool check suit than a plaid one in a vibrant pattern.

Try Brown

Brown suits may not be as popular as they used to be, but they are slowly popping up again. That’s because almost every guy can look good in a brown suit.

For the most part, a solid brown suit will serve you well and you’ll get a lot of use out of it in the cooler parts of the year. If you don’t want to go for a solid color, you should be able to find plenty of brown suits with a fine stripe when shopping for wedding attire for men.

Winter weddings might sound pretty crazy, but more couples are choosing the cold season to get hitched. Maybe they’re looking for the discounts that hotels and caterers often offer, or maybe they just met in the winter and have fond memories.

Whatever the reason, you need to find the right wedding attire for men for the winter months if you’re going to attend.

Go Green

Green suits are very popular these days, and there’s hardly a better, more appropriate time to wear one than winter. If you do choose a green suit, pick one that’s more olive or Spanish moss than lime green. Keep your accessories simple to complete the look.

Black or Bust

We don’t recommend black suits for wedding attire for men much these days. Too many people just think that a guy in a black suit looks very serious and like he’s going to a different type of event altogether.

When it comes to winter weddings however, we think it’s the perfect time for a top-notch black suit. Solid black is best, but if you find something with a light pattern, that works too.

The best thing about a black suit for a winter wedding is that you’ll easily be able to find an affordable coat to keep you warm without sacrificing your look.

Spring weddings are very common, so you probably already have something in your wardrobe that will work. If you really want to stand out though, investing in a high quality suit can turn your average wedding attire for men into a real statement.

High Blue

High blue suits have been making the rounds for a couple of years now. If you don’t already have one, now is the time to get in on the trend. Luckily, this trend, even when it becomes a bit less popular, will never completely fall out of style.

Shop for a high blue suit with a slim fit if you really want to match the current look of today that you see in all the fashion magazines.

Khaki Rules

Khaki is a springtime classic, and unlike some more vibrant colors, it won’t ever go out of style. When you buy khaki, make sure you’re buying a quality material that will breathe and allow you wear it through the summer months as well.

Go for a bit of color with the rest of your wardrobe or stick with solid white and skip the tie for a refined, laissez-faire sort of look.

With temperatures in the 90s or 100s this season, a lot of guys wish wedding attire for men could include a pair of shorts and a tank top. Unfortunately, you probably won’t be able to pull that look off, even at the most casual weddings.

Still, there are some options for wedding attire for men that will keep you cool while also looking your best.

Cream Dream

Cream colored suits may not be everywhere and on every rack in the menswear department. That doesn’t mean they’re not the perfect choice for a summer wedding. This is a great choice considering black, navy blue or a charcoal suit might make you feel like you’re in a sauna all day.

To pull of cream, go for a classic look and a cut that’s a little more English or French than 1950s American slim fit. That look can work too, but only if you don’t have any unforgiving spots that will turn an otherwise clean cut, credible look into one that’s just a little bit too messy.

Pair everything with white accessories, or if you’re feeling bold, go for a sky blue, pink or purple shirt. Skip the dark colors when you’re wearing a cream suit.

Think Pink

Pink might not be traditionally the most manly of all colors, but for a summer wedding, some shades of it are ideal. Among those are salmon pink – a color that’s really hot in the fashion world right now.

Pair your salmon pink suit with some basics like a crisp white shirt and a pair of quality cuff links. Keep accessories to a minimum to avoid looking too over the top.
