Style for every age
Parents always want the best for their children, but when it comes to clothing, most parents are happy to take their kids to whatever store they like and hope they pick something that isn’t too ridiculous. However, there are times when the casual clothes your kids love just won’t do and they simply need to look a little better than their usual wardrobe allows.
After all, even young boys need to have more fashionable clothing for events they go to with their parents, bar mitzvahs and more formal school events. While fashionable boy clothes may not mean suits, every boy should have a few options.
Suits for Boys
When you think about fashionable boy clothes, you probably don’t immediately think of suits, especially if you’re picking out clothing for a child between the ages of five and 15. It’s just hard to imagine a kid climbing the monkey bars and running around on the playground in a three piece suit and tie. There are times when your son is going to need a suit though.
When you’re looking for a suit for a young male, whether a teenager or a kid, you want to buy something that he will be able to wear for multiple different occasions. That’s why we recommend getting your son a suit in dark blue or charcoal. Black is another option, but it’s just a little bit too formal for most occasions for younger males.
Picking out suits for young boys can seem difficult, but there are a few guiding rules that should be able to help parents. First, you don’t want to spend a fortune on a suit if your child is still growing. Buy them something wearable, but know that you’re going to have to replace it in a couple of years when it can no longer be altered.
The other main thing you need to remember about buying suits for young men is that the brand of suit you buy still matters if you want your child to look their best. Look for quality brands like Elie Tahari, John Varvatos, Hickey Freeman, Tallia and Michael Kors.
Most buys run around in t-shirts half of the time and while there’s nothing wrong with that, there are times when your son is going to need to look just a little bit better than that. Think of all the school assemblies, birthday parties and family dinners where you want your son to at least have a shirt with a collar on it!
While you probably won’t dress your son in a button down dress shirt and a pair of slacks all the time, one easy thing you can do is to get them some knit shirts with collars that look much more grown up and sophisticated than plain old t-shirts. These types of shirts are also relatively easy to care for, making them ideal for kids who can be pretty hard on their clothing.
When you’re looking for dress or sport shirts, pick brands like DKNY, Ragazzo Uomo and Robert Graham. Depending on your child’s age, you can also start buying them finer shirts for men as long as they fit properly.
